Introduction

This gospel musical production was based on the noted book by Michael Cunningham concerning African-American Women and their church hats. The production featured nationally known actors as well as providing a stellar launch for a talented newcomer brought from UW Milwaukee. Michael Cunningham praised the production style and execution as the closest to the intention of his book. Research for the production included collaboration with the African Studies department at Duke University on Yoruba Orisha practice. The production was chosen for Revival at Burning Coal and Temple Theaters in North Carolina, 2010-2011
